Why Choose a Pediatric Dentist?

Many parents often wonder if they should look for a pediatric dentist instead of just taking their child to someone that practices general dentistry.  For those of you that are our regular patients, you already know the answer…it’s because you know how awesome our practice is!

What makes pediatric dentists different?

But others may want to know what sets us apart?  First, most pediatric dentists chose pediatric dentistry because we have a special desire to help families and we enjoy working with children.  The pediatric dentist has an extra two to three years of specialized training after dental school, and is dedicated to the oral health of children from infancy through the teenage years.

We know our patients.

A completely different skill set is often needed to treat young patients.   The very young, pre-teens, and teenagers all need different approaches in dealing with their behavior, guiding their dental growth and development, and helping them avoid future dental problems. The pediatric dentist is best qualified to meet these needs.

A place where kids feel at home.

We have designed our practice to be fun, nonthreatening and inviting.  Our goal is to make every child not simply comfortable when coming to an appointment, but to actually look forward to it.  We hope that you believe we accomplish that goal!

It’s interesting that there are actually different skill sets to treat younger people. It makes sense that one might need to have more experience and knowledge to be able to treat children as like the article says, a lot of the work needs to be preventative. It’s definitely something to keep in mind when looking for a dentist for the kids, as I want their care to be comfortable and effective.

I think that it’s important to go to a pediatric dentist and doctor for your kids. It makes it feel like a safe enviornment and someting for them to possibly look forward to. I wil lhave to keep that in mind as my children get older.

If I were to choose, I will take my niece to a pediatric dentist because they have a special desire to help families, especially children. It’s good that you mentioned that they are best qualified to meet the needs of my niece. If the clinic is designed to be inviting, I’m sure that she’ll look forward to the next visit.

Thanks for pointing out why you should choose a children’s dentist for your kids. I like that you said that they know how to make kids feel more comfortable. I think that would help set them up to want to go into the dentist in the future too.
